Gain staging
Record with peaks around -6 dBFS. Loud is not better — clipped takes cannot be repaired.
Room
Treat reflections where you can. A blanket-lined corner beats an untreated bright room.
Takes
Comp the best lead take, then record doubles and ad-libs separately on their own tracks.
Monitoring
Track with light reverb in your headphones if it helps performance, but print the file dry.
Export
Bounce each track separately, same start time, 24-bit WAV at your session sample rate.
