Terms of Service

POLISHD ("POLISHD," "we," "us," "our") is a managed mixing and mastering service operated by POLISHD Sound Inc., a corporation incorporated under the laws of Alberta, Canada.

These Terms govern your use of polishdsound.com (the "Site"), your account, and any services purchased through it (the "Services"). By creating an account, uploading files, or completing a purchase, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Services.

POLISHD is a managed production service, not a marketplace or a freelancer directory.

When you purchase a package, we match your project to a qualified audio engineer from our vetted network, manage the production process on your behalf, review every version before it reaches you, and deliver final files through your account.

Engineers who work on your project do so as independent contractors engaged by POLISHD. You are contracting with POLISHD Sound Inc., not with any individual engineer. POLISHD remains responsible for delivery of the Services regardless of which engineer is assigned.

We do not disclose the identity of individual engineers. Engineer assignment, identity, and roster composition are confidential business information and form part of the value of the Services.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account and purchase Services.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account. If you sign in using a third-party provider such as Google, your use of that provider is governed by their terms in addition to these.

You are responsible for the accuracy of artist and release information you supply. Metadata errors on your side — misspelled artist names, incorrect credits — are your responsibility and can affect royalty registration downstream.

Prices. Current package prices, inclusions, add-ons, and delivery timeframes are displayed at checkout before you pay, in full, including any applicable taxes.

Payment processing. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. By purchasing, you also agree to Stripe's terms as they apply to your transaction.

What your purchase covers. You are paying for the mixing and/or mastering work described in your selected package, including the stated number of revision rounds and stem allowance, delivered within the stated timeframe. Anything outside that scope — additional songs, stems beyond your package limit, expedited turnaround, additional revision rounds, alternate versions, or release campaign services — is available as a paid add-on and is not included by default.

Partnership and volume pricing. Negotiated rates for management companies, labels, or recurring volume arrangements are governed by the separate written agreement between POLISHD and that party, which prevails over these Terms where the two conflict.

You must have the rights to what you submit. You confirm that you own or control all necessary rights in any material you submit, including vocals, instrumentals, samples, interpolations, and licensed beats, and that you have the right to have that material mixed, mastered, and distributed.

We do not verify rights. POLISHD does not clear samples, verify beat licenses, or investigate the rights status of material you submit. That is your responsibility.

Indemnity. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless POLISHD Sound Inc., its directors, officers, and contractors from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from material you submitted that infringes, or is alleged to infringe, a third party's rights.

File requirements. You are responsible for submitting complete, properly prepared files meeting our published technical requirements. If files are incomplete, corrupted, or non-conforming, we will identify what needs correcting before production begins. This does not count against your revision rounds, but it may affect your delivery date.

Timeline. We provide an estimated delivery date at the start of your project. Standard packages target a first mix within under 4 business days from the time all required files pass review. Projects routed to specialist engineers, or projects of unusual complexity, may carry a longer quoted timeline, stated before work begins. Expedited handling is available as a paid add-on.

Revision rounds. Each package includes a stated number of revision rounds:

A revision round means grouped, submitted feedback on the current version. Draft notes you have not formally submitted do not consume a round. Additional rounds are available for purchase at the rate shown at checkout.

Revision scope. Revisions adjust the existing mix — levels, EQ, effects, tuning, timing, width and similar. Revisions do not include new recordings, arrangement changes, a materially different creative direction from the brief originally submitted, or work on a different song. Requests outside this scope are quoted separately.

Quality review. Every version is reviewed internally against our technical standards before it is sent to you.

Delivery format. Review versions are delivered as MP3. Release-quality WAV files and any purchased alternate versions are released upon final approval.

You have 14 days from delivery of a version to either request revisions or approve the project. We will remind you before this window closes.

If you do not respond within 14 days, the project is automatically marked approved, final files are released, and remaining revision rounds expire. If you need more time, contact us and we will extend it.

You own your master. POLISHD, and every engineer engaged by POLISHD, performs mixing and mastering services on a work-for-hire basis. You retain full ownership of your underlying recording and of the finished master. Neither POLISHD nor any engineer retains any ownership interest, royalty interest, performance right, or sample-clearance claim in your recording.

Our materials remain ours. The Site, the platform, our processes, templates, guides, and analysis tools remain the property of POLISHD Sound Inc.

Portfolio use requires separate written permission. We will not use your music, name, likeness, or artwork in our marketing, portfolio, or any public material without your separate written consent, granted independently of these Terms. Consent may be withdrawn for future use by written notice, though we are not required to recall materials already published.

We offer a free automated analysis tool.

It is automated. The analysis is generated by software against a technical rubric. It is not a human engineer's review and does not constitute professional advice about your recording.

What it analyzes. The tool evaluates a stereo audio file you upload against technical criteria including loudness relative to streaming platform targets, peak levels and clipping, dynamic range, frequency balance, and stereo and mono compatibility.

What it cannot do. Because it analyzes a mixed-down stereo file rather than separated tracks, it cannot identify conflicts between individual elements of your song, assess arrangement, or evaluate performance. It is provided "as is," without warranty of accuracy or fitness for any purpose.

Your files. Audio submitted to the tool is used solely to generate your report, is stored privately, and is deleted within 30 days. Submitting a file does not grant us any rights in your music.

No obligation. Using the tool creates no obligation to purchase anything.

You will not submit material that is unlawful, that infringes any third party's rights, or that you lack the right to have produced and distributed. We may decline or discontinue a project that violates this, with a pro-rated refund for work not yet performed.

POLISHD offers three specific, bounded guarantees.

Engineer Match Guarantee. If your assigned engineer is clearly the wrong creative fit after your first revision round, we will reassign your project to another qualified engineer at no additional charge. One complimentary reassignment per project.

Release Ready Promise. Your final master will meet technical release standards: appropriate loudness for streaming platforms, no clipping, no phase or mono-compatibility problems, and translation across phone speakers, headphones, and car systems. If it does not, we will correct it, and that corrective work does not count against your revision rounds.

Deadline Promise. We provide a delivery date at the start of your project. If we miss it for reasons within our control, your next revision round is free and we will upgrade your project to expedited handling at no charge.

What these guarantees do not cover

• Dissatisfaction based on creative preference rather than technical standards
• Projects where submitted files do not meet our published technical requirements, until corrected
• Creative direction that changes materially from the brief originally submitted
• Delays caused by your response times, including the 14-day auto-approval window
• Any outcome relating to streams, placement, coverage, or commercial performance

We do not guarantee outcomes

We make no representation or warranty regarding streams, playlist placement, editorial coverage, chart performance, revenue, audience growth, or any commercial or career result. Mixing and mastering improve the technical and sonic quality of a recording. They do not guarantee commercial success, and no statement by us should be interpreted as promising one.

No refunds on delivered digital files. Our deliverables are digital audio files that cannot be returned once accessed. We do not offer refunds once final files have been delivered. This is standard for digital production services and is stated clearly here and at checkout before you purchase.

This does not leave you without recourse — see the guarantees in Section 11, and the revision rounds included in every package.

Cancellation before work begins. If you cancel before your project has been assigned to an engineer, you receive a full refund. If work has begun, we will refund any portion not yet performed, at our reasonable assessment.

Your Alberta cancellation rights. Regardless of the above, under Alberta's Consumer Protection Act you may cancel your purchase within 7 days if we fail to clearly disclose the total price owed at checkout, or if we fail to deliver within 30 days of the delivery date stated at the time of purchase. These rights apply automatically and are not affected by anything else in these Terms.

How to make a claim. Email hello@polishdsound.com or use the support option in your project portal, referencing your project. We aim to respond within 4 business hours on business days.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

POLISHD's total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Services is limited to the amount you actually paid to POLISHD for the specific project giving rise to the claim.

POLISHD is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost opportunities, missed release dates, or reputational harm, even if advised of the possibility.

POLISHD is not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including acts of third-party contractors, platform outages, file corruption on your side, or force majeure events.

Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable Alberta consumer protection law.

We treat your unreleased music as confidential. Files are stored on access-controlled systems and shared only with the engineer assigned to your project, who is bound by a written confidentiality agreement before receiving any client material.

If a dispute arises, contact us first at hello@polishdsound.com. We will attempt to resolve it directly and in good faith before any formal proceeding.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date, and where a change materially affects an active project, we will notify you. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta. The courts of Alberta have jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits any right you have under the Alberta Consumer Protection Act.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and POLISHD regarding the Services.
